So, Halloween photos have suddenly been eclipsed, but let me start with Halloween night...Halloween night we went treating about the neighborhood. Megan walked with me and the boys, which surprised me. She had been having a great 2 days. She woke me up at 3am on Sat. morning, "My water just broke." I was slow on the uptake of what she was saying. It wasn't so much new-daddy syndrome that slowed me down as it was 'how does life work at 3am in the morning?'
Carolyn came over to watch the boys. Later Saturday morning Peggy came over and took over until Saturday night when my parents and sister arrived.
Back to Megan... We were check in at the Hospital by 4am, and what proceeded was our best delivery yet (notice how I stuck myself in there with 'our' - In reality, Megan owns a whole lot more of the credit than do I).
Contractions never really took off in a strong good pattern of their own. So, sometime mid-morning they began Megan on Pitocin. A few hours later after things were ramping up nicely she got an epidural (I left the room so that the 'great faint of '04' wouldn't be repeated - as I did at Jed's birth when I watched them give Megan an epidural).
By about 3:20pm Megan was ready to push and they let her. Josiah Matthew was made his appearance at the end of the second set of pushing.
He is healthy and great. 5lb. 15oz. 18 3/4 inches long. We baptized him at the hospital later that night when my parents and the boys were there. We weren't going to have lots (or much of any for that matter) family and/or friends able to come to a church service until at least Nov. 23. So, instead of denying him the gift of baptism we did it there at the hospital and will have a public recognition of it in worship sometime here to come.
As of tonight, we are all home and healthy and happy.
Oh, the boys... They are very excited to meet Josiah. Jed attempted to rebaptize Josiah after he watched me do it. Levi looks like the proud big brother and is already messing with the kid.

God is good and we especially thank Him for the gift of yet another grandson. We're looking forward to officially meeting him in a few weeks!

David, Megan, and boys: I can't wait to have a third grandson in line for 'under dogs'. Little Josiah will be right there with his two big brothers soon asking, "is it my turn yet?". Congratulations, Rufner family. You are finally getting to be surrounded by boys, David, after years of being the only one on our extended side of the family. God bless Megan as she deals with all that testosterone in years to come.
